Mark your calendars. The annual Global Oneness Day is October 24th!
But what exactly is Global Oneness Day and how did it all begin?
Neale Donald Walsch and I created Humanity’s Team 20 years ago with Oneness as our very foundation. We wanted to launch a coordinated spiritual movement that operated with the knowingness that we are all One. That Oneness has served as a backdrop for everything we have done as an organization.
In 2007, just a few years after we established our nonprofit organization, we embarked on an ambitious “Around the World in Oneness World Tour” to ten countries to raise awareness of humanity’s Oneness. We believed that by embracing the belief that we are all One – with each other, with God/Universe/Divinity, and with all life – the world would see a major shift in the way individuals and entire societies behaved. The tour was part of our five-year Worldwide Oneness Campaign to reach out to individuals and organizations across the globe.
Big dreams often require bold action. And what could be bigger than Oneness? We then created a Oneness Declaration and started a worldwide signature drive. Our goal was to collect 50,000 signatures and petition the United Nations to designate a Global Oneness Day. That dream soon became a reality.
On May 20, 2010, Humanity’s Team’s Global Council traveled to New York and presented our Oneness Declaration to United Nations Ambassador Anwaral Chowdhury. The petition was signed by more than 52,000 people from 168 countries. The Council requested that the United Nations designate a Global Oneness Day. Ambassador Chowdhury agreed that Global Oneness Day could be an important catalyst for change. He said it would take too long for the United Nations to initiate discussion on the idea and come to consensus. So he encouraged us to create Global Oneness Day ourselves.
We did just that. The first Global Oneness Day took place five months later, on October 24, 2010. We chose this day to coincide with United Nations Day, in recognition of the common vision shared by the U.N. and Humanity’s Team for developing a more compassionate, sustainable world. This first event was a conference call with people from all corners of the globe. We quickly maxed out the 1,000 spots available on the call.
Three years later, in 2013, we expanded Global Oneness Day to include a Global Oneness Summit, where we bring together dozens of spiritual leaders, visionaries, scientists, and musicians to share their wisdom and transformational teachings with the world. In 2023, this multi-day celebration of Oneness is now in its 14th year and attracts more than 500,000 participants.
Global Oneness Day has become a catalyst for spiritual activism, inspiring greater levels of compassion and care in the world. It represents a profound new paradigm in human culture.
Global Oneness Day and the Global Oneness Summit are both part of Humanity’s Team’s invitation to honor and celebrate Oneness in every home, community, and nation around the world. Our team of more than 50 country coordinators organize community events, drum circles, service programs, and performances to coincide with the summit. Together, we celebrate unity in our diversity, as a community consecrated to serving humanity’s collective awakening.
We hope you will be a part of it. Mark your calendar for Global Oneness Day October 24th and stay tuned for registration information to participate in this year’s
