How Diversity and Unity Fit Together

There is a natural tension between the idea of Oneness and the idea of Individuality, and as individuals, we don’t always get this idea and can often push back against it.

Sometimes fear comes up in our hearts when we talk in terms of “Oneness.” The fear is that we will lose our sense of self or identity.
 
So when we talk about Oneness, we have to be very careful to make it clear that we are not talking about melting into a Unity that results in a loss of Individual Identity.

In fact, Oneness and Individuality are not mutually exclusive at all.  

In the United States for example, states do not lose their individual identities but instead bring their beautiful contributions and diversity to the whole.

Florida brings its everglades and its expanse of white-sand beaches.

Colorado brings its Rocky Mountain range.  

Hawaii brings its culture of Aloha.
 
Georgia brings its hospitality.

California brings its redwoods and sequoias, and its own diverse coastline of cliffs and beaches on warm and cold waters.

And the list goes on from state to state!

But these unique differences do not have to produce divisions.  

A thing can be unified without having to be sameified.

The state of being “unified” and “identified” are not mutually exclusive, so we get the best of both—states with their own rich and beautiful contributions, expressions and histories, and a more perfect union where we marry diverse states into a single nation.
 
This is our framework here at Humanity’s Team as we journey into 2020 and join with people everywhere to inaugurate a new level of transformational activities, softly shaking the Earth and awakening humanity from its dream-state of separation.  

Those who come together will bring their talents and gifts, contributions and capacities that will all be quite different, and necessarily so!
 
As with marriage, we will each bring our authentic selves and we will marry into something larger than our “self” by embracing the “other.”

Together, we will journey into something much greater than our individual selves.
 
That something greater is planetary awakening and flourishing. It is the destiny we are calling forth for humanity and the Earth.

If so, during 2020 let’s use this expansive journey in diversity and Unity as a way to reach a whole new destination together, and let’s manifest the deeper dream of Oneness we’ve held in our hearts since time immemorial.
