The first time I came across Barbara Marx Hubbard she was on stage, ending her presentation in front of almost a thousand screaming and enthusiastic fans. It was June, 2003, and she had agreed to be part of our Humanity’s Team launch at the Living Enrichment Center in Wilsonville, Oregon.
When Barbara first came on stage, the audience was very quiet. She appeared slight, smaller in stature than others who were part of the program, and she did not have a particularly youthful appearance. People were wondering, “Who is this woman?”
Then she started to speak.
When Barbara Marx Hubbard speaks, she stares intently out at the audience. Her voice and her body language are confident and she often ends a sentence with a smile. She gestures and raises a hand as if to invite the audience to come with her. She has an uncanny ability to draw people in. And when her messages start to take hold, people get very excited.
That day, she said there was nothing to fear in the disintegration all around us. She said our crisis in the world is actually a birth. She invited the audience to become as midwives so we might “gentle the collective birth” taking place, the birth of a conscious, creative, loving and high-tech new species. She invited the audience to become this new species and to assist others in becoming the new species as well. She implored the audience to not be afraid. “Disintegration is necessary for the birth of something new to take place”, she said.
Barbara’s participation in our launch cemented a partnership that would span 16 years, from 2003 to the end of her physical life in 2019. During this time, she participated in our very first Global Oneness Day celebration on October 24, 2010. She made many, many enormous contributions. For several years, Barbara co-hosted our Oneness in Twelve Spheres of Life conference calls and then our video series that followed.
In 2013, Humanity’s Team honored Barbara by giving her our Spiritual Leadership Award. And in the last years of her life, Barbara created three very powerful Masterclasses with us.
I share these things with you both to recognize Barbara for the substantial contributions she made to an awakened, conscious world and to invite you and others to emulate her.
