Dr. Jonathan Ellerby is the best selling author of the new book, "The Seven Gateways of Spiritual Experience." As a spiritual teacher, coach, and consultant Jonathan has been walking between the worlds of spiritual growth and leadership development for over 25 years. 


His leadership work has taken him into some of the most notable companies in the world, while his passions lie in the natural world and his studies and training with Traditional Healers. PANELISTS

John Lockley

John Lockley is a fully initiated and ordained Sangoma (African Shaman) in two lineages from South Africa, the Xhosa and Swazi nations.  He is the author of the book 'Leopard Warrior', and audio teachings 'The Way of the Leopard', both published by Sounds True. His Xhosa apprenticeship took 10 years and he was foreseen in a dream by his teacher, MaMngwevu, a senior Xhosa sangoma from the same tribe as Nelson Mandela, who invited him to be her apprentice. According to John’s Xhosa elders he was one of the first white men in recent times in the Xhosa nation after Apartheid, to be awarded the title of 'Ligqira Linkulu' , meaning senior sangoma. His Xhosa name given by his teacher is 'Ucingolweendaba', meaning 'the messenger or bridge between cultures'. 


He has pioneered the bridge between modern western Psychology and traditional South African healing. For the last 15 years he has been facilitating 'Ubuntu' (Humanity) and Way of the Leopard retreats worldwide, teaching people how they can reconnect to their Ancestors, Spirit and the Earth. A passion of John's is teaching people indigenous African medicine to help them reconnect to the earth. He facilitates this through his 'Dreams & Tracking' retreats in the Kalahari Desert every year. John holds an honours degree in Clinical Psychology.  He is also a Zen meditation practitioner with over 30 years of experience. He took Buddhist precepts with Zen Master Su Bong from South Korea in 1992. 


John offers private divination and healing sessions online, as well as group oriented monthly ceremonies. A core part of John’s work is helping people with spiritual poverty. He speaks about the importance of people connecting to their immortality, or soul. He facilitates these teachings through meditation and indigenous practices that encompass animal and plant worlds as well as ancestor and dream work. He now splits his time between South Africa, Botswana (Kalahari Desert) and Canada.

Dr. Maurie Lung

D. Maurie Lung, Ph.D., LMHC, LMFT, integrates over 30 years of experience in outdoor recreation, environmental science, experiential education, counseling psychology, and program evaluation to provide therapeutic services in a community-based organization she founded, Life Adventures. In addition to her experiences as a practitioner and administrator, Maurie provides training and technical assistance to organizations internationally and is also the Director of Adventure-based and Nature-based Counseling degree programs at Prescott College. 


She has co-authored several books for mental health professionals as well as written articles about how experiencing nature can heal our hearts and restore dignity. She blogs about her adventures as a mama (www.muddybootsadventures.net) and shares the highlights of her learning from her 9-year-old triplets and 11-year-old son. She also co-hosts a podcast (Pondering Life Adventures) to share the science behind adventure and nature-based counseling as well as practical applications of these ideas as both a parent and a professional. 


Maurie serves on the International Association for Experiential Education Accreditation Council, developing organizational standards and accreditation of adventure-based programs, as well as on the Certified Clinical Adventure Therapist Council, developing practitioner standards and certification of adventure-based professionals. In all of these roles, Maurie utilizes experientially methodology provide services with a diverse client population. The growth and change she witnesses for youth, families, and adults through this process continues to amaze her and remind her of the power of playful experience in the out-of-doors.

Asha Frost 

The best-selling author of You are the Medicine, Indigenous healer, oracle deck creator, mentor, and mother. Her life work is to help you to connect to the medicine that has always been within you. The spark, illumination, and power is all there, waiting to be seen, felt, and claimed.


Frost grew up on and currently lives on Anishinaabe, Huron-Wendat and Haudenosaunee land.  Her maternal and paternal lineage and relatives originate from many First Nations across Ontario, Canada (Turtle Island).  Frost comes from the Crane Clan (Aji-jaak Dodem) and holds membership at Neyaashiinigmiig (Cape Croker) First Nation.


She believes that if you are drawn to Indigenous Medicine ways, that you too, have power and beauty in your own lineage waiting to be discovered.
